One of Southern Italy’s most important cultural events is the music, dance and theatre festival in the beautiful town of Ravello, situated among the rocks overlooking the world famous Amalfi Coast. Refined and elegant it is the perfect setting for tourists and residents alike to enjoy beautiful music and breathtaking landscapes.
25th June 2010 - 19th September 2010
Created in 1953 by the town fathers in honour of the visit that the German composer Richard Wagner made to the town in 1880, the festival has taken place every year since then and has bolstered the name of Ravello, making it a major tourist destination for culture vultures and music aficionados alike.
Each year, the festival has a theme along which all of the music and shows programmed are based. From 2003 to 2009 the themes have been power, dreams, contrast, play, passion, diversity and courage, rendering each year unique and keeping people coming back for more.
2010 is based on insanity and promises to be more successful than ever. The festival begins on the 25th of June 2010 and ends on the 19th September 2010, making the Amalfi Coast, and specifically, Ravello, the place to be to enjoy music and culture to the full in beautiful Mediterranean surroundings.
